First Time Visitor?

Welcome! We are always happy to have visitors joining us for worship. We pray your time with us is richly blessed! Here's some answers to Frequently Asked Questions about what you can expect:

What's a service like?

Lakeside offers two types of services--traditional and contemporary. In the traditional service, you'll hear liturgy and sing hymns from our hymnal, the Lutheran Service Book. Our praise band leads the music for the contemporary service, so you'll hear songs with more modern sounds and rhythms. Both services include an uplifting message.

How do people dress?

Well, this IS Florida and it can get hot here, so dress is casual. In other words, ties and suit coats not required.

 What about my children?

We offer a nursery for children 5 months to 3 years of age. At the 9:15 service, the nursery is located in the Children & Youth Building (behind the main church), and during the 10:30 service, in the parlor behind the narthex. During the 9:15 service, we have Children's Church for ages 3-10. Children are dismissed from the service and can be picked up from the Children & Youth Building. There is also a Bible study for "tweens" facilitated by a parent of one of the students.

Can I take communion?

We receive the assurance of the forgiveness of our sins through receiving the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ in Holy Communion. The Sacrament of the Altar is also a time when the family of God comes together. We invite all who believe in the real presence of our Lord Jesus Christ in Holy Communion to commune as friends of Jesus and the Lakeside family. May the power and presence of our Lord Jesus Christ sustain you and your faith. Communion is offered in the traditional service on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month and on the 1st Sunday in the contemporary service.

How can I get connected?

We offer many opportunities for you to meet our Lakeside family in informal settings.

  • Our Stitch 'n Chatter group, which meets every Tuesday from 9:30-11:30 a.m., is open to everyone. People crochet, knit or do whatever projects they wish or even do no project and just chat. The group usually goes out to lunch together at 11:30. For more information, contact Nancy Lindquist at 941-497-5850.
  • The Lunch Bunch, a "happy bunch of people," goes out to lunch at different restaurants every Sunday following the 10:30 a.m. service and all are welcome.  For information, please call Helen Hull at 941-497-6100.
  • Also, Lakeside has Bread Breakers groups, which consist of people who wish to have fellowship and enjoy a meal with others. Normally, the groups have 10-12 participants. It's a wonderful way to meet others and learn more about them besides just saying "Hi" on Sunday mornings. For information on the Bread Breakers, contact Sharon Ladigoski at 941-460-6959.
Where do I park?

We offer two parking areas: the parking lot to the left of the church and the grassy area on the right. During the rainy season, we sometimes close off the gates to the grassy area to save the lawn.
